Wicklow SFC Final

Baltinglass 1-20 Carnew Emmets 0-15

It was a hugely satisfying Sunday afternoon in Aughrim for Baltinglass, who won the Wicklow SFC for the first time since 2020.

Mark Jackson’s splendid long range free taking was a key feature in the first half as Baltinglass departed 1-13 to 0-9 ahead at the turnaround.

John McGrath supplied the crucial goal, finishing smartly following excellent work in the build up from Karl Furlong.

Ben Brosnan was prominent for Carnew, but Baltinglass were still seven points clear at the break.

After the restart Christopher Heaslip and Adam McHugh extended the Baltinglass advantage as Carnew struggled to generate momentum.

Baltinglass managed the game impressively in the second period, while Carnew must now refocus for next weekend’s Wicklow SHC decider against Bray Emmetts.
