Luke Loughlin (Westmeath)
Despite being forced off injured in the closing stages, Luke Loughlin had already delivered a typically stylish display for Westmeath, who surprised Meath in the Leinster SFC. The Downs clubman contributed six points for Mark McHugh’s improving team.
Paddy Small (Dublin)
Paddy Small was a key figure as Dublin survived a real Leinster SFC scare against Wicklow in Aughrim. The talented Ballymun Kickhams attacker scored 1-6, including the decisive late goal.
Dessie Ward (Monaghan)
The experienced Dessie Ward continues to impress for Monaghan, who overcame neighbours Cavan in the Ulster SFC. Ward drove forward to supply 0-4, including one two pointer for Gabriel Bannigan’s outfit.
